5 Ways to Create the Life you want to Live

Welcome to 2020! The start of a beautiful fresh new year which carries with it deep meaning and opportunity. “New Year, new me” is something we hear a lot of in January. January is synonymous with full gyms, Parkruns, fridges full of spinach and kale and empty alcohol shelves – the month of New Year’s resolutions. Whilst many of these fall flat by February, energetically, 2020 calls for something different.


The Universal Year number for 2020 is the Number 4 [2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 4]. The number ‘4’ in numerology is all about structure, foundations, dedication & planning. Getting real about your purpose, what you are dedicating your life towards and ultimately what/who you serve. 2020 is the year of CREATION.

According to Simone Matthews, 2020 is set to be an extraordinary year! A year of devotion will require us to work hard at mindfully living our values through every aspect of our life. Being deliberate, dedicated and committed to responsibly enacting a plan in which we can accomplish our set and chosen goals.

2020 will be a year of stepping up, jumping in and rising to the challenges we are presented with. There will be no hiding this year, but instead 2020 will offer us the opportunity to walk courageously, one foot in front of the other following the direction of our hearts. Be ready & willing to accept the invitation the new year will extend to you.


Creating solid foundations is the theme for 2020. It is likely to be a year of exceptional change in the structures, values, and natures of our modern world and YOU, everyone of us play an important role in bridging this shift into a Universal Humanity. Creating a life we are proud to live, a life that gets us out of bed in the morning and ultimately a life we would want to take notes on.


If you were to live a life that you would want to take notes on, what would that look like for you? What is your daydream? Is there a job you wish you were doing instead of the one you work right now? How can you harness the energy of the new year to consciously and intentionally create a life you proud to live?


Jack Heimbigner gives us 5 ways we can shift your daydream to reality and create the life we want to live:

1. Create a Plan

Almost every story, people decided they needed to have a plan for their lives. It is written out, describes the future they want, and what is most important to them. This is a life plan. It provides purpose and direction to your life.


2. Create Annual Goals

These are different from a life plan. A life plan gives you direction to a life you wish to lead. Goals are specific things you wish to accomplish that fit into your life plan. These are broken down out of a life plan. And they drive you toward your purpose.


3. Become Organized

Set up a system that helps you get things done. This can be a journal or your personal email/calendar programs on your phone or computer. The key is to keep your system simple in order to accomplish what you want in life.


4. Commit to Action

This is very important. Without committing to use your life plan, goals, and organizational system, you will not be able to live with intention. Plans and goals without action are simply dreamed now, and regrets later.


5. Establish a Community

Bring a few friends, family members, or your spouse in on your commitment. Tell them that you want to live life with purpose and are starting your journey toward that purpose. Ask for them to keep you accountable. A community is key.


These are only the first steps to living on purpose. When you live with intention there will be some changes in your day to day life. When you're trying to figure out how to create the life you want to live, try to think about the experiences that truly make you happy and look for opportunities to do them as often as you can!


However you want your life to be, make sure you are repeating these positive actions to create a positive, happy life.

"You can have the life you want if you think carefully about the individual experiences that make you happy, design behaviors to fit, and repeat the behaviors every day until they’re wired into your brain. It’s hard to repeat a new behavior so commit your time and energy to this priority."

Not only can this create a new habit in your life, but it can teach you to be more positive. You have control of how you think — so conquer your thoughts and create the life you want for 2020 and beyond.
